Frequently Asked Questions

1. Should I choose the air-operated QBY or the electric DBY diaphragm pump?

QBY3‑series runs on compressed air (0.3‑0.7 MPa supply), no electricity required. It is suitable for portable transfer and flammable‑hazard environments; flow and discharge pressure can be stepless adjusted by air‑supply pressure.

DBY motor‑driven series is selected when plant compressed‑air supply is unavailable. Note: QBY3 pneumatic and DBY electric pumps have different maximum head, suction‑lift and dry‑running limits. Check respective product pages for exact performance.

2. What are the temperature limits?

Ambient working temperature: 5‑65℃. Allowable media temperature depends on wetted diaphragm material.

3. Can the diaphragm pump handle solid particles and viscous liquids?

Yes. Wide flow passages deliver good solid‑passing performance. Maximum allowable particle size and viscosity capacity vary according to pump model.

4. What materials are available?

Pump body materials: cast iron, aluminium alloy, PP, stainless steel 304, 316, 316L, PTFE lining.
Diaphragm options: NBR, Neoprene, EPDM, Viton, PTFE.
Valve balls & seats: NBR, Neoprene, PTFE, 304 / 316L stainless steel.

5. Does the pump need priming? Can it run dry?

No priming water is required for both series.

⚠️ Difference on dry‑running capability:
• QBY3 pneumatic diaphragm pump: short‑time dry‑running is permitted, but continuous long‑time dry‑running is prohibited.
• DBY electric diaphragm pump: dry‑running is strictly forbidden under any operating condition, it will cause rapid mechanical damage.

Some models can be submerged in media under proper configuration. Neither pump requires oil lubrication.
